PUMPKIN FARMS TO VISIT THIS THANKSGIVING IN ONTARIO

Downey's Farm

When fall presses in with its crisp air and amber light, Downey’s Farm in Caledon turns into something of an autumn stage setting. This is no small roadside patch — the Downey family, now in its fourth generation, has transformed their 100-acre farm into a seasonal retreat. From late September through October their Pumpkinfest unfolds: wagon rides, a corn maze, a “Boo Barn,” over 25 different attractions. There are pastries and pumpkin donuts, and the market is stocked with honey, maple syrup, preserves, and more. The entry fee grants access to the fun; the pumpkins themselves are extra. Expect crowds, especially as Thanksgiving approaches, so arriving early or mid-week will help you soak in the season without jostling.

Robintide Farms

Further north, in Maple, Robintide Farms offers a quieter, more intimate version of fall’s bounty. Their Pumpkin Patch & Corn Walk is simple, sweet, and soothing: fields, patch-picking, fresh produce, and a farm market that feels unhurried. Though the farm shuts on “regular” weekdays (Monday-Wednesday closed), they are open Thanksgiving Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. so you can plan your weekend or holiday drive accordingly. It’s a great option if you want pumpkin season without the full-festival fanfare.

Brantwood Farms

A little further afield, Brantwood Farms near Brantford strikes a balance between scale and rustic charm. Their Fall Festival weekends in September and October give you everything: corn maze, forest play area, hop-on, hop-off wagon rides, even a train ride now. For kids especially, the farm play yard, giant slides, jumping pillows provide lot of freedom. As with many of these farms, gates close before dusk and last entry is well ahead of closing to allow visitors time to explore and exit safely.

Dixie Orchards

Closer to the GTA fringe lies Dixie Orchards, tucked between Caledon East and Inglewood. It feels almost hidden until you arrive — then you realize its appeal: pick-your-own apples, pumpkins, even hazelnuts; wagon rides; a corn maze; a porch-market of baked treats, jams, honey, and seasonal produce. The orchard has space, hills, and fields that lend themselves well to reflection and slower pace. It’s perfect for families that want the harvest experience without the big crowds.

Reesor's Farm Market

Finally, Reesor’s Farm Market in Markham offers something of an ensemble: market, patch, maze, bakery. Their Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze opens mid-September through October; there are hundreds of pumpkins, both ready-picked and for field picking. The market is loaded with baked pies and cookies, sweet corn, strawberries earlier in the season, and other farm-fresh stuff. Their hours are generous (Monday-Saturday), though Sundays are closed, and during busy times (Saturdays, Thanksgiving Monday), reservations for pumpkin/maze fields are required. For those seeking convenience — less drive time, solid food, diverse options — Reesor’s hits the mark.
